I'd just finished taking some video's, inserted the SD card in my Windows PC and got an error saying that the card needed to be formatted before use. I tried inserting it back in the Camera, but that didn't work, also tried a few different recovery programs but they did not work either. Booting into a Live CD of Ubuntu (a Linux Operating system) let me access the files without issue or having to use any other software - just came up as if there were no problem. The last file I recorded was corrupt, but out of 7GB I was able to recover all but 177MB. Update - 3/28/13 The latest version available from Ubuntu seems to be giving people problems, I used 11.10 and that is available from this link - http://releases.ubuntu.com/oneiric/
